Here is what Emily had to say about her internships:

“This summer I have two marketing internships- one at the Salvador Dali Museum and the other at Ruth Eckerd Hall. I am so thankful for the opportunity to learn from both experiences. The Dali Museum features famous art by Salvador Dali. My job is to work on marketing materials and graphic design to promote the museum. Being surrounded by beautiful art is just one of the perks. Ruth Eckerd Hall is a performing arts venue featuring concerts, plays, and Broadway shows. My internship at Ruth Eckerd Hall is more largely based in print marketing and reaching out to our target audience, the Tampa Bay Area. Each experience is different but I am gaining a wide variety of knowledge about the marketing world.”

Here is what Annie (hello, it’s me) has to say about her internship:

“Landing this internship with Chico’s FAS has been a dream come true and a total blessing.  I was lucky enough to be extended the offer even though it was supposed to be for rising seniors only (oops, not quite there yet). I am a journalism major at UF and am currently Chico’s PR and Social Marketing intern. My team is amazing and my job is so exciting. A lot of people don’t know this, but the Chico’s brand is made up of three companies: White House Black Market, Chico’s, and Soma. I get to work on all three brands, which is really exciting. I learn something new every day and there is NEVER a dull moment. I have had opportunities to write for Chico’s blog, Inside Chic, and brainstorm for social media accounts like the White House Black Market Snapchat and Instagram. I send clothing to magazines, communicate with fashion bloggers (famous ones!) and try to keep track of way too many pieces of clothing. The campus is amazing — I get to take golf carts everywhere I go. I hope to get into the fashion industry someday, and this internship has brought me that much closer. I am so grateful for the experience. I’m also surrounded by other interns (there are 18 of us, but we all work in different departments) that want to help me get to where I want to be. Everyone is so encouraging and inspiring. I could not have been blessed with a better opportunity. It has changed my world and perspective on the future. I can’t wait to see what my future holds thanks to the opportunities I will gain from this experience.”

Here’s what she had to say about her summer:

“I spent the first half of my summer studying abroad in Spain and France! Now I am living in Orlando for the rest of the summer interning for Florida Hospital in their Marketing Department. I also currently serve as Zeta’s Historian Reporter. It’s so nice to use the skills I’ve gained in the position to help me in my internship. I primarily work on social media, event planning, and blog writing. It is a great opportunity to learn marketing techniques with such a large company.”

Here is what she had to say about her internship:

“I’m interning at Johns Hopkins hospital under an oncologist that specializes in kidney and prostate cancer. I spend part of my week shadowing patient appointments in the cancer outpatient center. The other part of my week I work under a pharmacologist, helping conduct experiments in the research lab to create medications for the treatment of prostate cancer. As a premed student, I felt this internship was a great opportunity to gain experience in my future field.”

We are so proud of you, Haley! You’re doing amazing things, and we couldn’t be prouder to have you as a sister.

Claudia Davis Lands Internship with ProspectWire

As a sports management junior, our sister Claudia could not love her internship more. This summer, she has been interning with ProspectWire – a company that hosts baseball tournaments and events to help high school baseball players get recruited to college and major league teams.

“As an intern, I get to help plan and manage the tournaments,” Claudia said. “The company is based in Tampa, but I get to travel all summer because tournaments are held at different major league spring training complexes throughout the state of Florida.”

What is the most exciting part about your internship?

The most exciting part about my internship is that I get to be around the sport that I’ve grown up with. I was going to Marlins games and had season tickets before I could even speak words.

What have you learned from your internship so far?

I’ve learned how to properly function without sleep, considering that there are times when I have 14-hour work days in the hot sun. I’ve also learned the importance of teamwork and patience. There are in between 50 to 100 people involved in working the tournaments, so learning to communicate clearly and make sure everything runs smoothly is incredibly important to the success of the tournaments and the business.

I also love my internship because I’ve made so many friends from it. In the little down time we have, we get to explore the cities we intern at. I’ve visited Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota, Jensen Beach in Port St. Lucie and I got to go to the Single A Home Run Derby and All Star game at the Mets complex in Port St. Lucie. I love working at all the different complexes because it brings back memories of all the spring training games I’ve been to in my life. This started as an unpaid internship, but after all the hard work I’ve put in, my boss offered to pay me.
