Zeta Zen: Sisterhood Spotlight Edition

Welcome back to the UF Zeta Blog!

In our sorority, one of our sayings is “Seek The Noblest”. Today, we are shining the spotlight on three incredible women who help people seek their noblest selves; shaping minds, bodies and souls through their work as fitness instructors.

Ansley Fanizzi, PC 16, is an advertising major here at UF. In November, she completed a whole 200 hours of training in order to achieve her goal of becoming a yoga instructor.

“During my training, Zeta is what truly gave me the strength to keep going. Freshman year is hard enough living on your own in a new environment. I think I challenged myself ten times harder by doing yoga training, but Zeta was such a positive source for me when yoga training and college life got tough.”

Fanizzi’s passions are fitness, the arts, traveling and helping others. Through becoming an instructor, she hopes to open up a yoga studio to bring strength and happiness to people all around the country through the practice.

“Through Zeta, I’ve met my best friends and found a place where I can truly be myself. Having a group of girls constantly cheer you on and help you succeed is such a blessing to have. I credit so much of my success to Zeta and the resources it has given me.”

Coming up, Fanizzi is pairing with Impulse Nutrition to host a fitness camp where she will teach relaxing yoga class at the end of every workout.

We can’t wait to support you in your exciting new endeavors as a yoga instructor, Ansley! ZLAM

Next up is our beautiful sister, Lindsey Johnson! Lindsey, PC 14, is a group fitness instructor here at UF, where she specializes in teaching killer cycle and core classes.

Johnson says she loves everything about the gym and fitness so much, she wanted to see what more she could learn. Now, she is majoring in APK with a focus on fitness and wellness!

“It is so cool to think that you’re helping someone with their workout, and knowing that you might be the one to help them reach their goals or get into a better mood.”

Johnson says one of her favorite parts of instructing is building a more personal relationship with her regular attendees.

“Working out is something I love to do, and I love sharing it with others!”

We are so inspired by your dedication and passion to make an impact, Lindsey! ZLAM

Lastly, we’d like to highlight another fit sister, Katherine Santora!

Santora, PC 15, is a third-year Material Science and Engineering major. She is a certified yoga instructor, specializing in Vinyasa yoga, which is often referred to as “Flow” or “Power” yoga.

Santora has been practicing yoga since she was seven, but she got her yoga instructor certification at the young age of 16. Talk about impressive!

“As I got older, yoga became an important part in caring for my mental and physical health. I realized I could foster the feelings I have about yoga and share it with other people.”

Four years later, she still loves it!

Katherine, we love the way you shine in everything you do! Your efforts to spread the power of yoga are truly inspiring. ZLAM, girl!

Sister Spotlight: Lindsey Vasti

When summer rolls around, our ZTA sisters divide and conquer the world! While some are studying hard in Gainesville, traveling abroad or volunteering, others are interning in their dream career fields!

Today’s spotlight is on our hard working and fashionable sister, Lindsey Vasti, who is spending her summer under the bright lights of New York City as an intern at Exposure Communications.

At Exposure Communications, Lindsey works to place their brands like Dr. Martens, UNIQLO, Herschel, and Adidas in top magazines like VOGUE, Glamour, ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar, and Marie Claire.

Vasti spends a lot of her time working in the showroom tracking samples, inventorying and working with stylists and celebrities to get their products featured. In addition, Lindsey gets to plan marketing events for some of their top brands!

No matter where our Zeta sisters travel for the summer, we carry our sisterhood and values wherever we go. However, for Lindsey Vasti and Marlo Mulhall, they even got to take on the beautiful New York City with each other! #UFZTATAKESNYC

Lindsey credits a lot of her success to the uplifting and encouraging nature of the women in Zeta Tau Alpha.

“Zeta has given me countless opportunities, connections and role models. Being around hundreds of smart, driven and hardworking girls inspires me to work hard every day and to really reach for my goals, because I know that I have a huge support group backing me up in everything that I do. I truly believe that Zeta brings out my best self,” Said Lindsey.

We could not agree more, Lindsey! We are so proud of your accomplishments and cannot wait to hear more about your adventures as an intern when we are all reunited in the fall for sorority recruitment.

Sister Spotlight: Isabelle Hadley

12107186_10208904032297309_8330830800663684558_nWhen our sisters were asked to nominate a Zeta girl to be featured as our Sister Spotlight, it is no surprise that several wrote down the name Isabelle Hadley!

Hadley is studying business marketing and mass communication, and is also the reigning President of the Gamma Iota chapter here at the University of Florida. Her dream job is to be a Corporate Lawyer.

“I just want to be Alicia Florrick from The Good Wife,” Hadley said.

Some of her recent endeavors include completing an internship with FIS Global as a operational risk communications analyst. Within Zeta, she was Greek Philanthropy chair, Vice President and is now serving as President. She was a Marathon Relations Captain for Dance Marathon & was the Assistant Director of Programming for Young Leaders Conference.

When she isn’t hitting the books to accomplish her dream of becoming a lawyer or dominating the involvement field, Hadley loves to travel. She spent part of her summer in Guatemala and just got back from an incredible trip to New York City. A glimpse of her NYC adventure is pictured below.

Hadley admits some of her other hobbies are looking at adorable puppy pictures online and “Watching Netflix more than I’m proud to admit,” Hadley says.

Her favorite way to spend a Saturday? In the swamp cheering on the Gators with her Zeta sisters (DUH)!

Her favorite thing about being in Zeta Tau Alpha is the authenticity and diversity of each sister.

“We all have different interests and backgrounds but everyone is true to themselves. We aren’t afraid to be as goofy & silly around each other,” Said Hadley.

Isabelle, we love you and we are proud to have you as our Sister Spotlight. Thank you for all the work you put in to make this chapter great and to make the world a better place through your involvement.

Stay tuned on the blog for the next Sister Spotlight!

Intern Spotlight: Emily

Meet Emily:

Emily has two internships this summer! One with the Salvador Dali Museum and one at Ruth Eckerd Hall. She will be a sophomore in the fall.

Here is what Emily had to say about her internships:

“This summer I have two marketing internships- one at the Salvador Dali Museum and the other at Ruth Eckerd Hall. I am so thankful for the opportunity to learn from both experiences. The Dali Museum features famous art by Salvador Dali. My job is to work on marketing materials and graphic design to promote the museum. Being surrounded by beautiful art is just one of the perks. Ruth Eckerd Hall is a performing arts venue featuring concerts, plays, and Broadway shows. My internship at Ruth Eckerd Hall is more largely based in print marketing and reaching out to our target audience, the Tampa Bay Area. Each experience is different but I am gaining a wide variety of knowledge about the marketing world.”

Congratulations, Emily! We are so proud of you!

Intern Spotlight: Annie

Meet Annie:

Annie is going to be a sophomore next year and is spending her summer in Fort Myers with Chico’s FAS!

Here is what Annie (hello, it’s me) has to say about her internship:

“Landing this internship with Chico’s FAS has been a dream come true and a total blessing.  I was lucky enough to be extended the offer even though it was supposed to be for rising seniors only (oops, not quite there yet). I am a journalism major at UF and am currently Chico’s PR and Social Marketing intern. My team is amazing and my job is so exciting. A lot of people don’t know this, but the Chico’s brand is made up of three companies: White House Black Market, Chico’s, and Soma. I get to work on all three brands, which is really exciting. I learn something new every day and there is NEVER a dull moment. I have had opportunities to write for Chico’s blog, Inside Chic, and brainstorm for social media accounts like the White House Black Market Snapchat and Instagram. I send clothing to magazines, communicate with fashion bloggers (famous ones!) and try to keep track of way too many pieces of clothing. The campus is amazing — I get to take golf carts everywhere I go. I hope to get into the fashion industry someday, and this internship has brought me that much closer. I am so grateful for the experience. I’m also surrounded by other interns (there are 18 of us, but we all work in different departments) that want to help me get to where I want to be. Everyone is so encouraging and inspiring. I could not have been blessed with a better opportunity. It has changed my world and perspective on the future. I can’t wait to see what my future holds thanks to the opportunities I will gain from this experience.”

Intern Spotlight: Christine

Meet Christine:

Christine has had a busy summer so far! She started off the summer in Europe studying  abroad, and now she is doing an internship with Florida Hospital!

Here’s what she had to say about her summer:

“I spent the first half of my summer studying abroad in Spain and France! Now I am living in Orlando for the rest of the summer interning for Florida Hospital in their Marketing Department. I also currently serve as Zeta’s Historian Reporter. It’s so nice to use the skills I’ve gained in the position to help me in my internship. I primarily work on social media, event planning, and blog writing. It is a great opportunity to learn marketing techniques with such a large company.”

Congratulations, Christine. Keep up the hard work! We love you!

Intern Spotlight: Haley

Meet Haley:

Haley is having the time of her life gaining experience this summer towards her premed degree!

Here is what she had to say about her internship:

“I’m interning at Johns Hopkins hospital under an oncologist that specializes in kidney and prostate cancer. I spend part of my week shadowing patient appointments in the cancer outpatient center. The other part of my week I work under a pharmacologist, helping conduct experiments in the research lab to create medications for the treatment of prostate cancer. As a premed student, I felt this internship was a great opportunity to gain experience in my future field.”

We are so proud of you, Haley! You’re doing amazing things, and we couldn’t be prouder to have you as a sister.

Beta Bring It On 2016 Champions!

Zeta Tau Alpha placed 1st Overall in Beta Theta Pi’s “Beta Bring It On” for the second year in a row!

We are so proud of our girls for their hard work and dedication to an outstanding philanthropy!

Congratulations to Beta Theta Pi and the other sororities that competed for putting on a great philanthropy to increase the awareness for Alzheimer’s disease.

Again, we are so proud of our sisters and can’t wait to take it on next year in pursuit of our third title!

ZTA Family Weekend

We had an amazing weekend getting to spend time with our families and getting to show off our home away from home! We took a trip to Boca Fiesta to kick off the first night and had a nice brunch at the stadium to close it out. Activities were planned for moms, dads, and friends to all come together and spend time getting to know our home in the Gator Nation.

We love our families and are so glad our families got to meet our sisters! Thank you to all of the families who spent the weekend with us, we had a great time!
